Hi everyone! SO SORRY I have been MIA lately, BUT I am now back in full force! As some of you may know, I am not only a mom, but a foodie and wine-lover! Some of the moms on my street decided to do a night out to a Spanish Wine Dinner at Magnolias at the Mill in Purcellville, VA a couple of weeks ago! We had SUCH a fantastic time eating course after course which were each paired with the perfect glass of Spanish wine! The cost was $100 per person but that included tax and gratuity!
So, here is the run-down of each course:
-Kusshi Oyster- blackberry migonette, crispy serrano and smoked paprika creme fraiche; paired with a Gramona 'Gran Cuvee' Cava- Catalonia, Spain-
-Main Lobster- white asparagus, buttered white beech mushroom, verdejo buerre blanc, chervil; Manade Verdejo (what a fantastic white!!!!)- Rueda, Spain-
-Lomo- black rice, longanizza, lomo, octopus, rock shrimp, manzanillos, smoked chicken, saffron aioli, coriander, cilantro sprouts; Herencia Altes Garnacha (hands-down favorite red at our table!)-
-Valdeon Spanish Blue Cheese- roasted cippolini onion, shaved black truffe, pine nuts, mungolio; Hacienda Monasterio- Ribera Del Duero, Spain-
-Suckling Porchetta- green peppercorn mist, smoked mangaliseta belly; Black Slate 'La Vilella Alta'-Priorat, Spain-
-A5 Wagyu Ribeye Cap- marrows, black garlic jus; Can Rafols Gran Caus 2008- Catalonia, Spain (this was another to-die-for red that was so bold and affordable for being a 2008!!!)-
This was such a great opportunity for us moms to unwind and have a top-notch dinner. Not to mention, all of the wines were wonderful pairings. Which course was my favorite? I really can't decide, but my top two were the blue cheese crostini (I normally HATE blue cheese) and the Lomo (similar to a paella). I have a heart for Spanish wines because I studied abroad in Spain while I was in college and have been hooked ever since!
If you are looking for a mom's or ladies night out, Magnolias already have scheduled the next two wine dinners (April and May)-- the Spring Mushroom Dinner and a Rose Wine Dinner. Click here to get more information on these events!
